In 2004, CRCM Ventures launched its first fund investing in the first wave of Chinese Internet companies. CRCM stands for ChinaRock Capital Management. Our firm’s name was inspired by a small Chinese fishing village in the late 1800s in Farallon Island, off the coast of San Francisco, California. Our vintage fund invested in Youku (NYSE: YOKU, Alibaba), Allyes (acquired by Focus Media), Ying Li (NYSE: YGE), etc.
In 2005, CRCM invested in Youku which later went public on the NYSE in 2010 and got acquired by Alibaba Group in 2016
In 2013, CRCM Ventures invested in Musical.ly, one of the most downloaded short-form video apps in the US. It got acquired by China media-tech giant Toutiao (Bytedance) in late 2017.
In 2014, CRCM Ventures invested in Ripple, the 1st commercialized blockchain company which focuses on bringing the next generation technology to cross-border payments.
In 2015, CRCM invested in Turning Point Therapeutics, a precision oncology company developing novel drugs that address treatment resistance. The company went public on NASDAQ in 2019.
In 2017, CRCM Ventures launched its 4th fund to focus on frontier technologies. Portfolio companies include Drone Racing League, Cargo, Deep Motion, Baobab Studio, Vivid Vision, etc.
